In a landmark decision, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has just announced a major reform that will change the landscape of school examinations. Starting with the 2026 academic session, Class X students will have the opportunity to appear for their Board Exams twice a year!

The Nitty-Gritty: Key Details You Need to Know
While this is fantastic news, there are some important rules to keep in mind:
Improvement Scope: The second exam is designed for students looking to improve their marks in up to three subjects, including major ones like Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.
For Compartment Students: Students who receive a "compartment" result in the first exam can use the second attempt to clear their paper and improve their overall result.
A Crucial Condition: There's a strict rule here. Students who are absent for three or more subjects in the first (February) exam will not be eligible for the second attempt. They will be placed in the "Essential Repeat" category.
Full Syllabus for Both: To maintain academic standards, both exams will be based on the full Class X syllabus.
Results & Next Steps: Results for the first exam will be out in April, and the second in June. To prevent any academic loss, students awaiting their second exam results will be granted provisional admission to Class XI. Your final passing certificate will be issued only after the June results are declared.
